Story Time

Story Time with Miss Jean (children's librarian Jean G. Smith) is held Thursdays at 10:00 A.M. for Toddlers and 11:00 A.M. for Preschoolers and every other Saturday at 10:30 A.M. Story Time includes books, songs, fingerplays and crafts.

2004 SUMMER READING GUIDELINES

  Children ages 2 through teens who live in the Clarion Free Library’s service area may join the Summer Reading Club.

  Every child who registers will receive a bag, a bookmark, a sticker and a reading log. Carefully read the Summer Reading Directions.
 

  Children in the  “Read-to-Me Club”, ages 2-8 will have a goal of 10 books.  Children in the Summer Reading Club, ages 9-12 will have a goal of 3 books.

 Children ages 2-8 may choose books from the Easy, Beginning to Read, Juvenile Fiction and Nonfiction collections.

 Children ages 9-12 may read Juvenile Fiction, Juvenile Nonfiction and Young Adult books. *These ages are guidelines to follow.  Special consideration will be given to individuals reading above or below their age or grade level.

 Children (or parents) will record book titles on their reading logs.  Notify the librarian when you reach your goal and you will receive a prize!

Read books from the Summer Reading Booklist and win bonus prizes!

 Books must be read between June 7 and August 14.  Each book may be counted only once.
 
 

 See the calendar for scheduled programs.  Field trips are being planned.  Watch for announcements!

 Please abide by the library rules.  Be considerate of others and library property.  Read books and return in a timely manner so that others may enjoy.

 An End of the Summer Party will be held at the Rimersburg Community Center on Saturday, August 14th.    Sign-up will be required for those wishing to attend.

2004 Poetry Contest


Winners of the 2004 Poems and Pictures Contest were honored at a tea at the Clarion Free Library on Saturday, April 24th.  The students in grade K through 12 expressed themselves through poetry and artwork.  There were 115 entries.  All poems and pictures were collected and bound in a volume and place in the circulating collection of the Clarion Free Library.  Judges for the event were Clarion University Students,  Tom McMeeken, Kassey Chaapel, and Jennifer Cummings.
